Character Word for December: Compassion
Our character word for December is Compassion. Compassion means having regard for others. I just love the month of December because it is a time that everyone comes together and gives back to others. We will be focusing this month on activities that give back to others. Our third, fourth, and fifth graders will be making cards for our Veteran's Home that is down the street. I love seeing the kids get excited about making a card for someone they haven't met yet. Our Kindergarten, first, and second graders will be focusing on friendship and how to be a good friend to others. Stay tuned and check the blog for more information.

ALCA Conference in Birmingham
I was privileged to get to attend the Alabama Counseling Association's conference in Birmingham this past month where I learned lots of new information and picked up some great resources. I also picked something else up while I was there! I received the Recognition of Accountability and Verification of Excellence (RAVE) Award this year. Since this was my second year receiving it, it is called the Silver Award. I will be going out for it again next year and I hope to get the Gold Award. I am very excited, and I have already started collecting my information and data for this year. If you would like any information about the RAVE award, please feel free to let me know. I have posted my RAVE entry for the past two years on my "Useful Links and Files" page.
